Road Block to Riches / Success

Good day all

This week will look at the Road Block to success, imagine you are travelling. Then along the way you find a sign which says Road Closed, you want to proceed but you can not because the road is closed for what ever reason. So what you may do because in Life you have options, you can go back or find an alternative route to your destination.
Life is a journey and you will always come across some obstacles, road blocks, rough roads with pot holes etc. In December I had gone home, the drive on the freeway was so nice, late in the night I crossed the Limpopo en route skies. It had been three years since I used the Beitbridge border post, so I started preparing myself psychologically for that road which was under construction for 10 years or more. To my surprise and excitement I found the road was now tarred, I pressed my V6 160 Kms per hour. Before I could cover 50km towards skies I hit a pothole and again to my surprise there was no sign that there is pot holes on the road ahead. Well I had to continue now very cautious it took me 4 hours to get to skies I remembered the old days when my worry was mainly animals and better still the journey used to take under 3 hours.

Road block to success
In money, wealth or success in anything we face similar unexpected things some are good like the road I found to be repaired some are bad like the unexpected pothole.
Success means different things to different people. Success is setting goals then converting those goals to simple tasks, doing those task and accomplishing them. Success takes time, planning and a strong desire. Success is taking action. Success means reaching your goals even when the going gets tough.
There will be potholes along the way. Below I am going to list a few road blocks that we come across on the road to riches.

1.No time- If you want to achieve your dreams unfortunately you will have to set time aside, a day is 24 hours you work 8 hours a day sleep 8 hours and you have 8 hours free that you use to go and come back from work, to play with your kids and watch TV or drink alcohol if you are like me. Those who donot have time that is the time you must use to get your thinks done and get closer to your dreams.

 2. No talent- You cannot be a lawyer, an accountant, welder, mechanic engineer at the same so what you need to do is team up with those that have what you donot have. By teaming up I am not limiting to joint ventures even employing the services of a specialist makes your life easier and rather than doing everything by your self.
3.No money-the reason why you want money is because you do not have it. Again if you look at the richest guys on earth they did not have money but a vision we will look at that on the next point.

3.No clear vision - If you want to achieve riches fast you need a clear and precise vision of what you want to achieve. Right now if say you are in South Africa there is an opportunity in Malawi, the first question might be what is the opportunity checking if it is worth your while. The second question might what is the address, once you get those then you can ask your self which mode of transport must I use AIR OR ROAD, If it is the road then you can further say am I driving or taking a bus. If you are driving then you will need a road map or these days a Navigator. Even if you use a navigator you will check the shortest distance, the safest one without potholes or other challenges like car high-jerking, so you choose a country you go through. In Zimbabwe during the fuel shortages that was not a good option.

4. Fear - this I can term it the one road block because it comes in many forms. Fear of the unknow, fear of failure, fear because someone a parent or boss used to complain now you are old or you are about to become a boss then all his or her fears manifest in you. We
will look at these in another blog some other time, it is a topic on its own.
5. Lack of determination - Turn challenges into a problems that need to be overcome. Don't let a challenge become a stopping point on your path to success.

6. Lack of knowledge - Research and find people with knowledge in the area which you want to venture into.

7. Change - You will have to make adjustments in your life to focus on reaching the success you want. As I have mentioned on item one above what current priorities on your time will have to be changed the day has 24 hours? The people that you associate with can they help you succeed? This means you may have to come out of your comfort zone and change friends especially negative friends.

8. Negative thinking - Goes with negative friends that will be telling you no you cannot do this you are in a wrong country, the economy is down, avoid them. The other aspect is you, everyone has some self-doubt. To help you achieve your goals you need to write down your goals and break them to task then ask yourself everyday am I giving my best effort to today's activities? Then am i closer to reaching my goals?

9. Lack of enthusiasm - Be the day's cheerleader. All days are good; some are better than others. You will find enthusiasm is contagious; give some to others.

10. Procrastination - You can have the best plan in the world, but if you don't take action on it you simply have a dream. Are you self-motivated, or do you need external motivation from someone else? Again if you have a to do list then tick as you go will help you, but it is up to you to determine which method of motivation works for you. Take action.
Do all that you can do in a perfect every day, but do it without haste, worry, or fear.Go as fast as you can but never hurry. WALLACE D. WATTLES in THE SCIENCE OF GETTING RICH

11. Making excuses - Take personal responsibility for your success by eliminating excuses. Avoid blaming others for your lack of effort.

12. Learn from your mistakes - Everyone makes them. Successful people learn extremely valuable life lessons from their mistakes.

All this needs commitment Enjoy the rest of the day and enjoy your weekend as well as next week.
Next week we will look at COMMITiment.
Bye for now.

Are Riches for everybody?

Good day good People

There is one topic that is always a taboo to talk about, money and riches. In December I was sitting with my daughters in Bulawayo I asked them a question would guys want to be rich. I got some many excuses and reasons why they can not be rich. The 20 year old said everything is possible in their church they are taught prosperity.

The 13 year old said Shonas have taken everything and they have destroyed what the whites had built. I said how can high a school kid think like that, there is many opportunities for everyone. Anyone can be what they want to be, before I could finish I was caught up in a debate with my children a political debate. I looked at the opinions they where presenting and I thought to myself most people think like that. We as blacks and worse still as Mthwakazians think that we cannot do much, we forget that those of us living in South Africa and Botswana came with nothing crossing the crocodile infested Limpopo and we have become great.
I asked the one who has been saying nothing, she said the problem is, what is it that you will do in order to become rich. You can have all the plans but the there is always a lack of this or that. I asked her to elaborate, she said one good example is the money to start the business and the people who will buy from you. She said business is for those who are born into businesses or have some connections. I looked at them and realised that we are still far away in terms of sustaining ourselves. We can not afford to be looking for investors from out side all the time.
If you look at it politicians in most developing countries, they are looking for investors from developed countries when will we develop our own investors. We have the same mentality like my children, limiting ourselves. I looked at the causes and I found that the schooling system produces workers. We are the same labobaba bethu and omkhulu who used to work in the mines and farms. They lent how to communicate with the basi, and read basi's notes of instructions. We have to change the way we think, we have to change the road we use in the realisation of our dreams. If we don't we will fall on the same trap, what in America they call the rat race, which you will never win because you are doing one wrong think over and over expecting different results.
Facing the problem, you go to school at the age of 23 or 25 if you went to college or varsity you start working from 25 you work thinking that if you do become promoted you will live a better life. In the next 40 years you live in this illusion hopping to get a nice company with nice boses until one day you reliase you are left with 10 years to retirement. You retire 5 years down the line your retirement money is finished then what. You become a problem to your children and family you move from urban life to go and try rural life which you are not used to. The next thing you will be half wishing you where dead and wonder what went wrong.

My one kid above said business is for those born in business or have connections, I donot buy that, though it may make your life easier. The elder one said in their church they are taught prosperity, now you see my point education. We need financial literacy and reasons why we must start or go onto business instead of working for someone the how part of it will be easier. If you work in a company, you are making the owners of those companies rich you will never be rich.  So success principle number one if you want to be rich you must own your own business and you must sell shares instead of buying shares. Bill Gates became the richest man in the world not by buying shares but by selling shares. Opportunities are plenty for everyone I will recommend a book THE SCIENCE OF GETTING RICH you can buy it from book shops or get a free copy from scienceofgetting.net.

NEXT BLOG WE WILL LOOK AT THE ROADBLOCK TO SUCCESS.
